Book Bites - Things You Must Read (And Listen to!) - The Prisoner [Big Finish]

This one is kind of cheating because it's audio drama, but it's such an under-appreciated medium, so I felt, for today, because it's Wednesday, I could let this one slide.

'The Prisoner' began life as a TV program in 1967 about a man purely known as Number Six, stuck in a place where he is so desperate to escape.
It ended up lasting two seasons, and if you have the time, it is worth the watch. It makes up for some interesting entertainment.

Jump forward to 2016, underground acclaimed audio producers, Big Finish Productions, get hold of the rights to The Prisoner.
Big Finish are notorious for their flourish of continuations of stories in the reigns of Doctor Who, Sherlock Holmes, Dark Shadows, The Avengers (the '60s show, not to be confused with the Marvel movies) and many others.
Normally all of these listed continue on in some kind of fashion, but here, writer Nick Briggs has decided to make this a re-introduction entirely.
With that, early stories have been taken, re-jigged and moulded into a new style, which still carries out the nostalgic 1960's vibes through and through.

The storytelling through character derived narrative really drives this set of episodes and is thoroughly entertaining.
If you're into things like James Bond action and The Twilight Zone obscurities, this is right up your alley.
It is a beautiful blending of the two.

It's definitely worth a listen, and makes up for an enjoyable listen one episode at a time.
