Why I love Rivers of London and think it would be an amazing TV Show

For those who don't read much, you probably wouldn't have heard of this series, but you may have seen these cool covers in bookshops.

If you've been living under a rock for the last five years, Rivers of London is an urban fantasy thriller about a police officer who is learning the art of magic in aid of his job. Peter Grant, having become the first English apprentice wizard in over seventy years, must immediately deal with two different but ultimately inter-related cases. In one he must find what is possessing ordinary people and turning them into vicious killers, and in the second he must broker a peace between the two warring gods of the River Thames and their respective families. He is mentored by the enigmatic Nightingale who teaches him the ins and outs throughout the duration of the first book, setting him up for the rest of his adventures.

The first book is a little bit clunky, over-sexualised and a bit sweary, but if you're tolerant enough, it's a fairly enjoyable read.
Once you have surpassed Book 1, things definitely get interesting. I'm up to Broken Homes and it's pretty fantastic so far, without giving away anything.

It has the sort of tones you'd expect in a story set in the Harry Potter universe, but with a bit more gritty undertones. Author Ben Aaronovitch of Doctor Who fame has been pumping out these books like there's no tomorrow, releasing Rivers of London and Moon Over Soho in the same year.

I could definitely see this been produced as a TV Program in the same vain as Luther or American Gods, and it would be greatly enjoyed, and would hopefully give some exposure to the books.

There have been whispers of a series happening at some point, but I couldn't claim whether these are true or not.
Nevertheless, I would hope that one day, this is the case, so that people could discover this series.

If not, I hope this blog post has provided some light into this discovery.

I would give it a crack.
